One-of-a-kind rattles made from dried cacao fruits with assorted small crystals inside. Perfect for cacao circles, song circles & other shamanic gatherings - these rattles look beautiful on every altar, carrying the sacred energies of the cacao fruit into your ritual toolkit.
You can choose from two options: with a handle or handle-free.
The dried cacao fruits fit into the human hand in such a way that makes it seem like it was meant to be held. Those rattles with wooden handles, while a bit more delicate, can be played in two different ways -- from the handle or by holding the fruit.
This ancient musical instrument with countless sacred & ceremonial uses across many cultures is known by many names such as rattle, maraca, shaker.
Produced by an indigenous Mexican artisan couple, Miguel & Marisol (see photo), who call these instruments Sonajas de Cacao. The direct translation from Spanish for sonaja is rattle in English. Fun fact: the English term 'cacao' actually derives directly from the Spanish, since it was Spanish colonizers who stole cacao from the indigenous Mesoamerican peoples during their violent conquest of those lands about 500 years ago.
When you purchase our cacao & ritual tools, you support our mission to re-empower those indigenous communities that served as guardians of sacred cacao before colonization.
